Monte Sano United Methodist Church Presents

2019 Light on the Mountain Awards Dinner

Mountain Memories, the 2019 Light on the Mountain Awards Dinner annually recognizes individuals and organizations who volunteer their efforts or inspire others to create the quality of life we enjoy in the Greater Huntsville Community.  The event, beginning with a Social Hour at 5 PM on Wednesday, February 27, will feature a Silent Auction with items ranging from gift certificates for services and items from local businesses to a full set of silverware brought from Germany by one of the von Braun scientists (a great way to own some Rocket City history!) to vintage collector’s copper pieces to gourmet dinner parties and more to browse as you have hors d’oeuvres.  Following at 6 PM will be a delicious dinner featuring recipes from the recently published Monte Sano cookbook, “Come to the Table”, which will also be on sale that evening. These include Spring Salad, Artichoke and Chicken Alfredo over Wilted Spinach, Egg Noodles and Mountain Mystery Torte. Entertainment will be Monte Sano’s own Leo and Bob Larkin with Shane Adkins as the Classical Country Connection and Huntsville’s premiere storyteller Sara McDaris.

This is all topped off by the wonderful opportunity to honor a very outstanding group of people as Light on the Mountain Award Recipients:

Lifetime Achievement:  Roger Rinn

Newcomers:  Alice and Roger Tanghe

Volunteers:  Betsy Kephardt and Soos Weber

Youth:  Sean Meehan

Visionary:  Ana Byrne

Inspirational Leadership:  John Archibald (from Birmingham News who spent part of his childhood on Monte Sano)

Ticket reservations for the evening’s festivities are available for a suggested donation of $25 for adults and $15 for youth by calling Monte Sano United Methodist Church, 256-533-6083.  Proceeds from the event benefit building debt reduction.
